Cafe Seeger in Nettetal

I was born in the Lower Rhine and I like baking with Marcel at WDR. That's why I bought the baking book last year and found that the cakes are very sugar-heavy. Nevertheless, we bought cake there 2 weeks ago, which was also very tasty. Then I ordered cookies and chocolates. The package arrived, but it was a bit poor and not very nicely packed. I have to say that I had hoped for a lot and now I am very disappointed. The speculoos are sugared, the vanilla croissants taste slightly burnt and zero vanilla, the Basel pastries taste a bit dried out and again very sweet. Pity!

We often see Mr. Seeger on TV and that's why we wanted to try the pastry shop. So last Sunday (November 15th, 2020) we decided to drive for 30 minutes and get cakes for the afternoon coffee. Maybe the expectations were just too high, but our pastry shops here in Wegberg can really do more. Among other things, we had cheese cream, which just felt "cheesy" in the mouth and not at all smooth. The egg liqueur cream didn't taste like egg liqueur at all. Nut-poppy-seed-apple was delicious ... But the bottom line: the way is really not worth it!

Disappointing!! We drove an extra 30 km to drink coffee Furniture old-fashioned. Stains everywhere on the carpet! Cake mediocre. Narrow pieces of cake. A pity !! We expected a somewhat upscale ambience.

Visited Café Seeger today. Ate a very tasty piece of Sachertorte. The cake selection is fine. I bought a baking book from Marcel Seeger and I was lucky, Mr. Seeger was there personally and lovingly signed this book. We recommend!

I bake a lot of what Marcel Seeger bakes in the WDR. My husband also gave me his baking book "My Favorite Cakes". For my birthday I asked for a visit to Cafe Seeger. And I can only say that the journey was worth it. A very nice cafe. Very tasty cake and the coffee was very good. Ms. Seger and her team were very attentive and friendly and we felt very comfortable in Cafe Seeger.
